The Texas Wine Industry has experienced a huge growth in the past eight years. In 2001, Texas had only 46 wineries across the state. This number more than doubled with 181 wineries in 2009. Texas Wine related jobs also rose from 1,800 in 2001 to more than 9,000 in 2009. Texas Wine production in n2001 was at 1.4 million gallons produced for the year. In 2009, 2.4 million gallons were produced. Last but not least, Texas Wine has made a strong impact on the Texas economy. With around $132,701,534 million produced in 2001, 2009 brought in $1.35 billion. This industry is an emerging competitor in the agriculture sector and will remain prominent in not only West Texas, but the State wide income.
